Their diversity of size, colour, form, shape and utility is so great that if an
Acer is selected wisely, they will fulfill possibly any need.
The horticultural group centres on several hundred cultivars of
Acer palmatum plus those of Acer japonicum.
Through their appreciation of beauty and infinite patience the Japanese
have bred, selected and propogated the cultivars of these two species
and variations, for hundreds of years.
